Train, Over and Over and Over. Yesterday's shooting had me switching from right hand to left hand after each shot, and doing it as fast as I could "return to target". The group is a little wide, but acceptable considering changing hands and doing it fast. Those who shoot regularly would agree that the only way is to train over and over and over. On my "own time and dime".   Because of the affordability of its ammo, my weapon of choice is my Henry .22 Lever Action Carbine. And I have others to choose from.  These and more:

I love to shoot I have been fortunate to be able to have a "home range" at most of the places I live.  This affords me the opportunity to shoot when I care to, and without using a public range.  Shooting at home, I can conduct myself as I want to, shooting tactically, and not having to worry about those nearby.  Most of my shooting is done using my Henry .22 Lever Action Carbine, but I also shoot with my Bear Creek Arsenal AR-15 Carbine in Multi-Caliber. Today I chose the AR-15 and was able to keep all 30 rounds within a 3 1/2 inch shot group, from 75 yards.  I shoot while standing, supporting my rifle with a "Shooting Stick" to steady the barrel. With but one round in the "7 Ring" and the rest as "8" or better, and within 3 1/2 inches, I would say that my exercise was satisfactory.

How accurate do you shoot? How often do you shoot? Maintaining my level of proficiency, I have been doing as much shooting as I care to lately. Being able to keep the group within 3 1/2 inches satisfies me. This target is 6 inches in diameter, about the size of a head. Which of these shots wouldn't be a fatal head shot? I accomplish this while shooting my Henry Lever Action .22 Carbine.   I have "bigger" long guns, and "smaller" handguns, but shooting this one is inexpensive, and knowing that I can do this with just a .22LR, lets me know that should I use a larger bore rifle, that I will be as accurate or better.  This is my Henry:

Self Defense is a personal thing It is not the burden of Law Enforcement to keep individuals safe from harm. Our personal safety is our own obligation to ourselves.   Some of us feel this, and are alright with it, while others would rather leave their fate to the odds, or to the chance that someone with more grit than they would come to their defense. But those of us who get it, know that we alone are our protector.  We also know that it could well happen that we find ourselves defending those who cannot, or will not, defend themselves. I love to shoot my firearms.  And I love trying to top the previous day with today's shooting.  Unlike a regimented, public, range; using a "home range", I can conduct myself as I choose.  I don't sit at a bench, and shoot at a 2 foot target, hoping to stay on the paper.   I shoot a 6 inch target, (about the size of a human skull),  and am always trying to bring the shoot group into a smaller diameter. I shoot every weapon I own, regul
